Ayurveda in Ceylon

Ayurveda is considered by many to be the oldest healing art. The word Ayurveda is derived from Sanskrit, an Indo-Aryan language, where the word “ayus” means life and the word “veda” means knowledge or science. Ayurveda is a holistic approach that works on the cause of disease in the body or mind. Ayurvedic treatment is determined based on the different energies or “doshas” possessed by each individual. Three “doshas” – “vatha”, “pitha” and “kapha” are present in different proportions in each of us. Ayurveda aims to improve the overall well-being of each person and expel toxins from the body. It has proven to be successful even in chronic diseases. It offers us numerous advantages, and most importantly, it has absolutely no side effects. The royal families of ancient Ceylon valued Ayurveda not only for its medicinal values. They used the secrets of Ayurveda extensively in rejuvenating treatments and maintaining long-lasting beauty. In today’s fast-paced modern world, Ayurveda offers people all over the world answers to hitherto unanswered questions and the knowledge that the kings and queens of ancient Ceylon possessed thousands of years ago – that with the benefits of Ayurveda and a comprehensive approach, it is indeed possible to restore balance, achieve inner peace, and calm the body, mind and soul.

The principles behind Spa Ceylon products

Spa Ceylon has a strong love and commitment to the well-being of the community, the earth, the planet and all living beings. We have implemented this commitment in every phase of our business, and above all in the way we formulate our products. We guarantee that every single product in our range is: Paraben-free – parabens are commonly used as preservatives and appear in everything from sunscreen to toothpaste. Research shows that parabens can contribute to serious medical conditions. Therefore, at Spa Ceylon, we have decided to completely avoid their use. Paraffin-free – paraffin serves as a lubricant and emulsifier and as such forms the basis of many skin care creams. However, the most important thing is that paraffin is actually obtained in the process of oil refining. In fact, paraffin wax is the final by-product in the chain. We at Spa Ceylon have decided to completely avoid the use of paraffin in our products. Alcohol Free – Many skin care brands use alcohol in their products, from facial cleansers to moisturizers. Including ethanol and isopropanol, primarily because of their effectiveness as preservatives and solvents. Their harmful effects, such as drying, make it impossible for other ingredients to penetrate the skin. With our products, you can be sure that you will not experience any of these side effects. Not tested on animals and 100% free of animal ingredients – Spa Ceylon has never and will never test its products on animals. We believe that animals belong in the wild, not in the laboratory. There are no animal by-products in our products. Everything we use is 100% cruelty-free and natural. We promote sustainable harvesting and support Fair Trade – sustainable harvesting is a form of agriculture that uses resources in a way that prevents their extinction or permanent damage. Fair Trade means that we help develop sustainable businesses that have a positive impact on the local community. It also means that every product obtained from such farms is paid fairly. Our Aloe Vera project in Kalpitiya is an excellent example of Fair Trade in action.
